Invest in your future

Social Economic Development

Includes courses in partnership
with the University of Richmond

Overview

Economic empowerment is considered so important for achieving development goals, that the United Nations lists “no poverty” as the primary Sustainable Development Goal to be achieved by 2030. To start your career in the broad and diverse field of socio-economic empowerment, join the GVI Social Economic Development Virtual Internship. You can gain expert insight and practical experience in everything from setting up microenterprises and microfinancing schemes to impact investing and how to found a social enterprise.

Project work

Throughout your internship you’ll be completing one project each week that helps a local organisation solve an actual problem. Since we work with real partners, real, valuable projects will be assigned to you. This means that the types of projects you could work on will vary. We aim to match you as closely as possible with an organisation and a task that aligns with your personal career goals. See below for some of the projects you could work on during your internship.

Fundraiser and social media content development

Collaborate on developing a fundraising campaign while assisting in the creation of law and policy-focused social media content.

Create a pitch presentation

Prepare a pitch presentation to attract donors and investors for a social and economic development NGO. Craft a compelling narrative that highlights the organisation’s mission, impact and potential for positive change.
