The project
Our food security and community outreach volunteer program in Spain focuses on supporting vulnerable communities in Barcelona. We assist with providing nutritious meals to people who are homeless, while also offering resources, education and social inclusion opportunities.  Through outreach projects and food distribution efforts, we aim to uplift and unite the local community. What’s included

Project work

Contribute to outreach and education projects that uplift and empower the local community.

Accommodation

Shared dorm-style accommodation in one of three apartments near the headquarters and community centre.

Meals

Groceries are provided to prepare your own breakfast and dinner. Lunch is prepared by staff from Monday to Friday.

Airport transfer

You'll be picked up from Barcelona-El Prat International Airport.

Comprehensive pre-departure support

Includes a dedicated support coordinator to answer your questions, an Essential Info Pack, and a webinar to learn more about your program.

Comprehensive in-country support

Includes a welcome orientation, including safety, culture and environmental info. A Program Manager is there to support you.

24/7 mental health support

Receive support services provided by licensed professionals.

Training program

In-person training sessions as well as access to our digital campus.

Spanish classes

Two Spanish classes a week.

Personal development

Engage in weekly workshops and coaching sessions focusing on Inner Development Goals. Cultivate qualities that drive progress toward UN SDGs.
What's not included

Flights and airport taxes, medical and travel insurance, visa costs, police or background check, additional drinks and gratuities, extra local excursions, personal items and toiletries and metro card.

Your accommodation

Our accommodation options are designed to match everyone’s preferences. There’s an apartment specifically for women, with space for up to 10 people, only a 20-minute metro ride away. We also have a mixed-gender apartment that can accommodate up to 6 individuals, conveniently located just a quick 2-minute walk from our base. And for the guys, there’s an apartment for up to 5 people, accessible via a 20-minute bus ride.

 

Each room typically offers either 2 or 4 beds, ensuring a comfortable stay for all. Our apartments include bathrooms and a kitchenette for convenience. The men’s apartment features a roof terrace, while the women’s apartment has a balcony, providing spaces for relaxation and socialising. All volunteers are welcome to enjoy our community garden, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.
