If you have ever considered a career that involves working with children, like pre-primary or primary school education, this program gives you the opportunity to try out this type of work while also gaining experience in the field. In addition, you also get to experience the natural beauty and spiritual traditions for which Nepal is well-known.
Volunteers will be contributing to ongoing education initiatives in the region, developed by our staff and in-country partners aligned to local objectives and global goals set by the United Nations. The object of all our education programs in Nepal is to provide resources to support improvements in developmental and learning outcomes for students. These include volunteers who can provide individual tutoring and small group classes support, educational resources like books and other materials, and infrastructure development, such as libraries and desks,
Volunteers will support teachers at a local primary school. The aim is to provide support in developing children’s literacy, numeracy, as well as skills such as hand-eye-coordination, social interaction and teamwork. We also support children in improving their conversational English skills to assist them with accessing future education and employment opportunities.
Volunteer work is carried out during school hours from Monday to Friday. Evenings and weekends are yours to get to know your fellow GVI volunteers from around the world and explore Pokhara learning even more about Nepali cultural traditions and experiencing some of it’s world-renowned scenic vistas and adventure activities.
