Gain experience while assisting local teachers with lesson planning, classroom management and one-on-one tutoring, abroad on this education internship in West Africa. Key focus areas for this program include assisting in core subjects and designing and delivering extra-curricular activities for creche, kindergarten and junior-school-aged students. Participants may also have the opportunity to get involved with activities on other GVI Ghana programs, such as women’s empowerment and vocational training. Live and work with other interns in the Ghanaian coastal town of Kokrobite.
The GVI team in Ghana work in the town of Kokrobite, and the surrounding fishing communities, to improve the quality of locally offered education for nursery to junior aged students. During the week you will be planning, designing, and delivering educational classroom sessions and extra-curricular activities to be run with students from local schools. In doing this, you will be helping to provide local schools with the manpower they need to allow each child access to more personalised instruction in subjects like English, arts, crafts and literacy. You will also get the opportunity to be involved in activities that help promote the Sustainable Development Goals including SDG #4, Quality Education.
Weekends are yours to explore the tropical surroundings, site-see, or simply relax at base with your fellow volunteers. Through your programme, you will be making a valuable contribution to local education and supporting the local community.
