Challenge yourself with a two-week trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, bonding along the way with other participants from around the world. Next, travel to Pokhara to work at achieving one or more of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Trek to 5364 metres above sea level, up to the foot of the tallest mountain in the world, while experiencing the scenic natural beauty of the Himalayas first-hand. The ascent will take you through picturesque meadows and traditional mountain villages up panoramic vistas of the valleys below. Throughout your journey, you will be staying at the many teahouses, locally owned lodges, that dot the trail.
Afterwards, join your fellow trekkers and other GVI participants at our base in Pokhara, a city built around Phewa Lake, surrounded by the Annapurna mountain range. Here you will learn about development challenges in Nepal and contribute to our on-going sustainable impact initiatives. A typical day for volunteers might involve renovating a classroom at a local school, facilitating educational classes for young learners, or teaching local women conversational English. Each of our programs is aligned to one or more of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the role you play in these projects will be determined by your existing skills and interests as well as the needs of the community at the time of your program. This is a very active program. Physical fitness is a requirement.
